infantery attendants 2010
I am sure that the 7th line will again be present in 2010... I am sure I will be there
Reactions so far from all who attended were (again) positive.

Re: infantery attendants 2010
That is indeed excellent news. I'm more than pleased to have you with us.
I hope that the British units (Dutch, German or English-based) will also respond in like-manner.
Possibly also have some Badish jagers (one of them is on the forum) with us too...What about other campaign-minded units like the 5e Milicie? I'm alos hopping to bring over the 68th and 33rd which would be a big deal for me.

5th militia
are very interested for 2010, keeping that warm every event we meet them. Problem is for them that a few of them are in WOII reenactment as well and there were a lot of events last year.

Re: infantery attendants 2010
I dont know if i'll come yet.
For me last year was a kind of disapointment.
The environement and the living in the open air and reenacting wars of those times is fantastic.
But for me it sucked last year because they wanted me, a sapper, to walk in the line instead of beiing with the wagontrain, because they didnt want to lose my firepower. And i understood that. But if they put me in that position for that reason, I want to be able to fire more than 3 rounds! And thats all i've fired that weekend! so it was more like a long and heavy boring march without any action. I'd rather be with the wagontrain doing my job that i'm supposed to do. But thats my opinion.

Re: infantery attendants 2010
When everything with transport works out and if the date does not interfere with something else I cannot afford to miss, I will surely be there again!
And I think the rest of the 7th line musicians who were there last year will also be there, or at least will try to be.
2009 was my first experience with LBE and a campaign event in general, and I liked it very much, it was very tiring but indeed worth the effort. If nothing else, it teaches you to really respect what those men did 2 centuries ago.
Cheers,
Anthony, fifer 7th line (BE)

aaah thorvik my young padewan
if it is about the shooting i shot only 2 times the hole event
so if you want shooting stick to the line
the bagage's job is too avoid combat and stay save .
but still it was very fun to do and yes the hole event is like a big march.
its 10 k of ground to cover hahaha so you have to walk

But thats the problem, i dont need to shoot, but if they want to replace me because i can shoot, then i want to fire a lot of rounds, otherwise, let me stay with the wagon, where i do my job, even if that includes i cant fire at all!

so what is the wise lesson you have learned ?
stick to your one bussines
and make sure your officers know and like you
or just stard bitching and mouning until they put you where you to be
Re: infantery attendants 2010
Thorvik,
Welcome to the forum!
Yes, I can appreciate that you may be disappointed...I must admit that I did want to try a few things this year but it was necessary, as we say in French, to mix the goat and the cabbage. For 2010, I think that the set-up will be more in place.
Say, I've read somewhere that Oostmalle was on again next year and at the same date. I hope not as I was lead to believe that it was a "one-off" event. Any information about this?
Marc

I dont think Oostmalle will be there again next year. What do you mean by your last 2 sentences?

Re: infantery attendants 2010
Well, I think that it was a one time event only. Because the organisation of that event took more than a year, so i think it was a one time only. The rumours going around are just because some loved it, and wanted to do it again. But you'd better ask Ron for more info :p

Re: infantery attendants 2010
hi marc
tis the info i got from ron yesterday about oostmalle/wavre
grtz maarten
Darstellung Schlacht bei Wavre, Belgien
18-19 Juni 1815
Prussian Corps under General Johann von Thielman fought against three French Corps under Marechal Grouchy. A combined force of 33.000 French soldiers was drawn in battle against the rear guard of the Prussian Army in Wavre at the River Dyle.
On the morning of June 19th Grouchy managed to take the bridge (Pont de Christ) over the Dyle but heard only 30 minutes later what happened with Napoleon’s army at Waterloo the day before. The French victory was hollow and Grouchy abandoned the city to save his army. He managed to reach the French border in good order.
In preparation of the ‘bicentennaire 2015 ‘ of the Waterloo Campaign besides the battles of Ligny and Waterloo also this battle will be reconstructed for the second time. Next year’s event is well organised by the re-enactors association 8ème légère of Belgium and the Tourist Board of the City of Wavre.
We’re happy to invite Allied re-enactment groups to Wavre on july 2, 3 and 4th 2010 for battle and bivouac in the domain of ‘Château de l’Hermitage’. The battlefield is only a few hundred meters away.
Straw, wood and black powder are provided as well as the principal food ingredients (bread, meat, wine, water, vegetables, cheese, …).
About 200 tot 250 re-enactors are expected !
Allied (Belgian, Dutch, British and German) forces can take contact with Ron Van Dyck, member of the Belgian 7th of Line. He will work as allied contact person for all allied troops !

Re: infantery attendants 2010
Thanks Poilu...From what I undestand, these events are due in July so they are no threat to LBE 2010.
