Photography and video
Has anyone thought about photographs of the event and for that matter video? I was considering the idea of someone (me) going armed with an SLR (not Self Loading Rifle, but camera and telephoto!) rather than infantry "rifle" and shooting pictures rather than blanks. Sort of like a war photographer; as if photography had been invented in 1815 instead of about 1840.
How would this fit in with the overall plans and how do the organisers feel about period purism; how would/should the photographer be dressed? In camouflage or period?

Re: Photography and video
Hello,
Well, I do have a certain Tim Nelms that has offered to be the official photographer of the event.
I must admit that I like the idea of having one person solely in charge of the multimedia covering of the event...having soldiers take cameras out of their breadbags and snapping away tend to distract them from what they should be doing.
As for attire, I had agreed with him that he could wear his 95th uniform (minus weapons). I would also like him to be as discret as possible with his photo-shooting.
With this information, do you still prefer to be a photographer or would you rather stay in the ranks?

Transport!!
In actual fact the main problem is not one of rifle or camera, but transport. There is myself and one other (BobJ) who don't have any transport arranged. There is the bad option of one of us driving but the ferry is about £100, its 300 miles each way, about £60-70 in diesel plus the road tolls. I'm not keen on driving that far over such a short period of time after an exhausting weekend. I've had no reply about the minibuses of the 33rd and 68th so I assume they are full.
Re: Photography and video
Have you tried the 2/95th lads? Perhaps some of the cavalry guys could eventually help you out?

Hi Marc,
My brother showed interest to possibly participate to LBE 2010 as a photographer (not far from home). As you know, he isn't a reenactor but I can find some items to dress him as a 1815 civilian.
With his telephoto, he can be far enough to not disturb other reenactors.
Keep me updated on that,
Bastien

Sure Bastien...But I thought that your brother would be with the French mostly.
Re: Photography and video
Yep, but since he will have to follow the action on the battlefield not being dressed as a soldier, I was expecting sort of an agreement from the reenactors part, including the Allied side .
